Bilateral Meeting with The Honourable Peter Kapala, Minister of Fisheries and Livestock of the Republic of Zambia

Rome - The FAO Director-General, Dr Qu Dongyu, met today with The Honourable Peter Kapala, Minister of Fisheries and Livestock of the Republic of Zambia on the margins of the 2025 World Food Forum and FAO's 80th Anniversary celebrations.
The Director-General welcomed the Minister and commended him for Zambia's aquaculture sector's development and its positive impact on economic growth. He encouraged the Minister to make use of all relevant FAO platforms to accelerate agrifood systems transformation, in particular the Hand in Hand Investment Forum for attracting potential investors.
The Minister thanked the Director-General for the support provided by FAO and informed that he anticipated a successful outcome to the Hand-in-Hand Investment Forum during which Zambia would be presenting its proposals to improve maize production, further develop the aquaculture sector, as well as its agro-processing value chain.
