Rome - The FAO Director-General, Dr QU Dongyu, met today with The Honourable Sa'aga Talu Teafa, Minister for Natural Resources Development and The Honourable Paulson Panapa, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Labour and Trade, of Tuvalu, on the sidelines of the 2025 World Food Forum and FAO’s 80th Anniversary celebrations at FAO headquarters.

The Director-General welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed FAO’s commitment to supporting Tuvalu’s agricultural development and resilience-building efforts. The Director-General advised mobilizing expertise from tropical agriculture institutions to provide targeted technical assistance.

The Ministers thanked the Director-General for the opportunity to meet with their delegation and congratulated him on the successful World Food Forum.

The Minister for Natural Resources Development expressed appreciation for FAO’s continued support and joint work on Tuvalu’s national priorities for strengthening its agrifood system in the face of climate challenges, and looked forward to further strengthening this collaboration.

Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing sustainable, climate-resilient agrifood systems in the SIDS, and beyond.
