Bilateral meeting with The Honourable Toesulusulu Cedric Schuster, Minister for Natural Resources and Environment of Samoa

Apia, Samoa - The FAO Director-General met with The Honourable Toesulusulu Cedric Schuster, Minister for Natural Resources and Environment of Samoa, to discuss ongoing collaboration and shared priorities.

The Director-General thanked Samoa for its steadfast support and commended its active participation in major international events, such as the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 29) in Baku, expressing hopes for continued collaboration in future COP conferences. He underscored the importance of strengthening FAO-Samoa relations to achieve shared goals and highlighted the success of the 2024 World Food Forum, which drew over 9,000 participants to address global agrifood systems transformation.

The Director-General also expressed gratitude for Samoa’s role in hosting the FAO Subregional Office for the Pacific, reaffirming FAO’s commitment to providing effective support to the region.

Minister Schuster emphasized Samoa’s focus on the practical implementation of policies and initiatives and expressed appreciation for FAO’s support. He reiterated Samoa’s dedication to deepening its partnership with FAO in pursuit of sustainable development goals.
