Bilateral meeting with the Honourable Younten Phuntsho, Minister for Agriculture and Livestock of the Kingdom of Bhutan

Rome - FAO Director-General, Dr QU Dongyu, met today with the Honourable Younten Phuntsho, Minister for Agriculture and Livestock of the Kingdom of Bhutan, on the sidelines of the 2025 World Food Forum and FAO’s 80th Anniversary celebrations at FAO headquarters.
The Minister conveyed his warm congratulations on the 80th anniversary of FAO, commending the Organization’s leadership and its continued support for Bhutan’s agricultural development and food security. He also shared Bhutan’s flagship programme, “One Child, One Egg” which currently covers over 70% of schools in Bhutan.
The Director-General warmly welcomed Bhutan’s progress and reaffirmed FAO’s commitment to supporting the country in advancing nutrition, sustainable agriculture, and resilience-building through innovative and inclusive approaches. He commended Bhutan’s efforts to link school feeding with local production, creating a model for other countries in the region.
