Bilateral with H.E. Jacek Czerniak, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Republic of Poland

Dushanbe - FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, met with H.E. Jacek Czerniak, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Republic of Poland, on the margins of the 35th FAO Regional Conference for Europe and Central Asia to discuss ongoing cooperation between FAO and Poland, as well as opportunities to further strengthen the partnership in support of regional and global food security.

The Secretary of State reaffirmed Poland’s strong commitment to food security, food safety, innovation and the development of international standards. He underscored Poland’s support for effective multilateralism and recognized the important role of FAO’s technical expertise, including opportunities for exchange and collaboration.

The Director-General highlighted Poland’s strong and longstanding partnership with FAO, commending the country’s successful transformation into a modern, market-oriented agricultural economy and its leadership in advancing sustainable agrifood systems. He also acknowledged Poland’s active role in FAO governing bodies and its contributions to the work of the Organization and global food security efforts, and reiterated FAO’s readiness to further strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest. The Director-General also informed the Secretary of State of the launch of the Global Partnership Programme on Transboundary Animal Diseases (GPP-TAD) as an innovative funding model to address transboundary animal diseases and urged FAO Members to participate in the initiative.

In addition, both sides explored opportunities to enhance youth engagement in agrifood systems and exchanged views on further strengthening the partnership between FAO and Poland.
