Rome - On the margins of the World Food Forum 2024, FAO Director-General QU Dongyu met with H.E. Prof. Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives of the Kingdom of Thailand, to discuss ongoing collaboration and future initiatives.

The Director-General expressed his appreciation to the Minister for her participation in the World Food Forum, as well as for Thailand’s continued support in hosting FAO’s Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok. The Director-General informed that the second FAO Representatives’ Working Conference would be held in the FAO Regional Office in Bangkok, highlighting its symbolic importance and expressing confidence in its success.

The Director-General also recognized the Thai Government’s strong support for the International Soil and Water Forum 2024 and encouraged Thailand to also invite leading scientists and representatives from the private sector, as well as key political figures.

In this regard, the Minister reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to the Global Soil Partnership and to the International Soil and Water Forum, noting that several ministers had been invited to raise its profile.

In closing, Director-General highlighted Thailand as an example of effective engagement with FAO and invited the country to share this experience with other countries. The Minister reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to further strengthen collaboration with FAO going forward.
