21 October, 2019, Rome - FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu met today with Wang Guanghua, Vice Minister of Natural Resources of China, to discuss ways to pursue sustainable development at a time when natural resources are strained and climate change poses new challenges.

The two agreed to strengthen cooperation on preserving and protecting biological diversity. They also expressed willingness to promote ecosystem-based projects based on Nature-Based Solutions, an area in which China has considerable experience, often in relation with FAO’s Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems programme.
