FAO and Ireland underline the value of healthy plants for sustainable food systems


2 December 2019, Rome - FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu met today with Andrew Doyle, Minister of State for Food, Forestry and Horticulture of Ireland, at the Organization’s headquarters in Rome.

In their talks, on the sidelines of the 163rd Session of the FAO Council and the side event for the launch of the International Year of Plant Health 2020, the parties underlined the value of healthy plants for the ecosystem and sustainable food systems.

The Director-General praised Minister of State Andrew Doyle for his country’s continuous support as a valuable partner and Ireland’s leading role in modern, scientific-based agriculture.

They both agreed that experience sharing and knowledge transfer are key elements of the strategic partnership between Ireland and FAO.
