ABSTRACT

This document is the final report of the Seventh Session of the Sub-Committee for the Protection and Development of the Fisheries in the Sahelian Zone, which was held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, from 3 to 6 July 2000. Major topics discussed were: seminar on livelihoods and fisheries management in the Sahelian Zone; opportunities for the integration of irrigation and aquaculture; major issues of post-harvest practices in the sub-region. The summary of the main decisions and recommendations is shown in Appendix D.

RESUME

Le présent document est le rapport final adopté par le Sous-comité pour la protection et le développement des pêches dans la zone sahélienne à sa septième session, ténue à Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, du 3 au 6 juillet 2000. Les principales questions examinées ont été les suivantes: séminaire sur les moyens d'existence et l'aménagement des pêches dans la zone sahélienne; les opportunités pour l'intégration de l'irrigation et l'aquaculture dans le sahel; les principaux aspects post-captures dans la sous-région. On trouvera à l'annexe D, le résumé des pincipales décisions et recommandations.
