The Council of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations held its Tenth and Eleventh Sessions immediately prior to and following the Special Session of the Organization's Conference, which was held in Washington, D.C., U.S.A., 3–11 November 1950. The Government of the United States of America lent the facilities of its Department of State for the Tenth Session, and of its Department of Agriculture for the Eleventh Session.
The main purpose of the Tenth Session was to make the necessary preparations for the Special Session of the Conference. It also considered certain substantive problems, some of which were taken up again at the Eleventh Session of the Council, meeting after the Conference.
In view of the close relationship between the work of the two sessions, the Council decided to present the record of its actions in the form of one report.
The agenda of the Tenth and Eleventh Sessions, as adopted by the Council, appear in Appendix A, page 35.
Approval of Minutes of the Ninth Session
The Council at its Tenth Session approved the minutes of the Ninth Session, held in Rome, May 1950.
Election of Vice-Chairmen of the Council*
At its Eleventh Session, the Council unanimously agreed to appoint Sir Ralph Enfield (United Kingdom) as first Vice-Chairman and U. Myat Tun (Burma) as second Vice-Chairman of the Council.
