Synopsis (short abstract) The aspirational goal of FAST is to implement concrete actions that would result in improving the quantity and quality of climate finance contributions to transform agriculture and food systems by 2030, to support adaptation and maintain a 1.5-degree pathway whilst supporting food and economic security. The FAST initiative will be a multi-stakeholder partnership acting as an accelerator to transform agrifood systems to deliver triple wins: for people, for climate and for nature. FAST is designed as a catalyst, building on ongoing global and regional initiatives and coalitions to drive effective actions, and avoiding duplication.

    FAST is a multi-stakeholder partnership that aims to catalyze and accelerate the transformation of agriculture and food systems by 2030 for people, climate, and nature. The Partnership was developed to implement activities and achieve the objectives of the FAST Initiative, which was launched by the COP27 Presidency in 2022 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. The aspirational goal of the FAST Partnership is to support agrifood systems transformation and implement concrete actions to improve the quantity and quality of climate finance contributions, support adaptation efforts and to maintain a 1.5-degree pathway while ensuring food and economic security.

    Initiative Alimentation et Agriculture pour une Transformation Durable - FAST 2022

    L’objectif ambitieux de FAST est de mettre en oeuvre des actions concrètes qui permettraient d’améliorer la quantité et la qualité des contributions du financement de l’action climatique, afin de transformer les systèmes agricoles et alimentaires d’ici 2030, de soutenir l’adaptation et de maintenir une trajectoire à 1,5 degré tout en soutenant la sécurité alimentaire et économique. L’initiative FAST sera un partenariat multipartite qui agira comme un accélérateur pour transformer les systèmes agroalimentaires. Son bénéfice sera triple: pour les personnes, pour le climat et pour la nature. FAST est conçu comme un catalyseur, s’appuyant sur des initiatives et des coalitions mondiales et régionales en cours pour mener des actions efficaces et éviter les doublons.

    Established at the Twenty-seventh Conference of the Parties (COP 27) held in Egypt in 2022, the Food and Agriculture for Sustainable Transformation (FAST) Initiative was launched to improve the quantity and quality of climate finance directed to the transformation of agrifood systems by 2030. After the launch of the Initiative, the COP 27 Presidency called for a FAST Partnership to be established to operationalize the Initiative’s three pillars: access to finance, knowledge and capacity development, and policy support and dialogue. This project was subsequently formulated to support the establishment of the FAST Partnership.
