Inter-regional Digital Agriculture Solutions Forum 2025 Highlights the Role of Digital Agriculture in Advancing Resilient Agrifood Systems

10/02/2026

Bangkok, Thailand — The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) convened the Inter-regional Digital Agriculture Solutions Forum (IDASF 2025) from 3 to 5 September 2025 in a hybrid format, bringing together nearly 400 participants from more than 50 countries to advance dialogue, partnerships and innovation for agrifood systems transformation.

Digital agriculture as a systems enabler
The Forum positioned digital agriculture as a central enabler of sustainable, resilient and inclusive agrifood systems. Participants from governments, research institutions, development organizations, the private sector and academia examined how digital technologies are reshaping production systems, supply chains and rural livelihoods across regions.

Innovation across sectors and value chains
Over three days, discussions covered digital and AI applications in climate-smart crop production, livestock management, fisheries and forestry; digital traceability and food safety systems; circular economy and waste management solutions; and innovations in advisory services, rural finance and youth entrepreneurship. Sessions also addressed foundational enablers of transformation, including data governance, digital public infrastructure, interoperability, and strategies to bridge the rural digital divide.

From pilot solutions to scalable impact
The Forum highlighted practical innovations such as drone-enabled rice cultivation, AI-supported resource management, digital advisory platforms, and fintech solutions improving farmers’ access to credit and risk management tools. Participants emphasized that successful adoption depends on farmer-centered design, supportive policies, and strong multi-stakeholder partnerships.

Strengthening global collaboration
Organized by FAO with support from the Asian Development Bank, IFAD, ITU and CGIAR-IITA, the Forum reinforced global momentum to scale digital agriculture solutions that strengthen climate resilience, food security and sustainable rural development.

Next steps
FAO will consolidate and disseminate key insights from the Forum to inform ongoing work on enabling digital ecosystems for agriculture and scaling innovation across regions.
