Open Registration E-Mentorship for Girls in ICT Day 2026
16/03/2026
To celebrate International Girls in ICT Day 2026, the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is organizing a global online event that will bring together mentors, girls, and young women to explore the challenges and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence (AI) in agrifood systems. This virtual gathering aims to foster knowledge exchange and empower girls worldwide to take an active role in shaping and sustaining initiatives that close the digital gender gap.
The 2026 event will be held on April 23, under the theme “AI for Development: Girls Shaping the Digital Future.” This theme highlights the pivotal role of girls and women in accelerating the adoption of AI technologies and underscores the importance of inclusive participation. The goal is to ensure that young girls not only benefit from AI advancements but also contribute to their development and implementation.
As part of this initiative, a two-hour virtual mentorship session will be offered to young girls eager to learn from leading experts in AI and agrifood systems. Mentors representing the private sector, academia, and UN agencies will share their career paths, aspirations, and insights, followed by an interactive Q&A session. All participants who complete the session will receive a certificate of participation.
