Unlocking the commercial potential of Natural Fibres
Increasingly, the world is realizing that better use must be made of precious natural resources. Environmental awareness has prompted many industries, particularly in high income countries, to consider more sustainable ways of operating. This report looks at promoting the technical and economic attributes of hard fibers, in particular sisal.

The Consultation was organized by the Trade and Markets Division of FAO in conjunction with the Joint Meeting of the Intergovernmental Groups (IGGs) on Hard Fibres and on Jute, Kenaf and Allied Fibres.

Proceedings of the symposium on natural fibres 2008
The central objective of the year can be seen as promoting the use of natural fibres in current and novel applications, thereby contributing to increased levels of income for fibre producers, processors and traders, while at the same time contributing to the increased use of environment friendly materials in those applications.

Alternative applications for sisal and henequen
Proceedings of a seminar held by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) and the Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) at FAO, Rome, 13 December 2000. The seminar provided a forum for the analysis and exchange of information between technical and market experts. 

Coir processing technologies
Improvement of drying, softening, bleaching and dyeing coir fibre/yarn and printing coir floor coverings. This technical paper is the reflection of the work undertaken by a project financed by the Common Fund for Commodities, which specifically focused on technology development in relation to the usability of coir in traditional and improved applications.
