Join us at Restoration Day during CBD COP16 for an engaging session focused on tracking progress and building capacity for better ecosystem restoration. The session will feature the launch of the Target 2 Resource Guide, designed to help countries translate their restoration plans into tangible actions. This event will showcase critical tools for setting restoration targets, developing implementation plans, and monitoring diverse ecosystems like forests, grasslands, peatlands, and marine systems. Presentations, interactive tools, and case studies will provide attendees with insights into practical restoration efforts and monitoring techniques.

Session agenda:

The session will begin with an introduction by the moderator, Bethanie Walder, who will share key messages from NBSAP analysis. The Target 2 Resource Guide will be officially launched by George Gann of SER, who will also introduce a self-assessment tool for countries.

Interactive moments will be incorporated throughout the session, such as a Mentimeter segment where the audience can respond to questions about the guide and assessment tool. The session will feature presentations from various experts, including a case study on the European Union's Nature Restoration Regulation and a discussion on monitoring restoration progress using UN Decade metadata by Julian Fox.

Additional presentations will focus on the Framework for Ecosystem Restoration Monitoring (FERM) and e-learning tools by Yelena Finegold, and Brazil’s PLANAVEG forest restoration initiative, shared by Fabiola Zerbini. After the presentations, there will be a Q&A session led by the moderator, followed by closing remarks from Jamal Annagylyjova from CBD.
