لدى جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية أكبر عدد من الأشخاص في العالم الذين يعانون من انعدام الأمن الغذائي الحاد المرتفع. ويعيش حوالي 80 في المائة منهم في المناطق الريفية ويعتمدون على الزراعة لتأمين ما يحتاجون إليه من طعام وسبل عيش. وعلى مدى عقود من الزمن، كانت البلاد تواجه أزمة إنسانية معقدة، تفاقمت بفعل النزاع المسلح والكوارث الطبيعية وتفشي الأمراض. وتزيد آثار جائحة كوفيد-19 الوضع تعقيدًا وتعزز نقاط الضعف الهيكلية. ومن شأن المساعدة الزراعية أن تساعد الأسر المعيشية الضعيفة على إنتاج غذائها وتوليد الدخل لها.
