El Yemen sufre una de las peores crisis alimentarias del mundo. Los niveles de inseguridad alimentaria aguda y malnutrición sin precedentes obedecen principalmente a los conflictos y la crisis económica. Los hogares vulnerables se enfrentan a dificultades para acceder a los alimentos debido al aumento de los precios de los alimentos y la reducción de los ingresos de las oportunidades laborales. Esto afecta negativamente a sus dietas y los obliga a adoptar mecanismos de afrontamiento negativos tales como la venta de activos productivos para satisfacer las necesidades básicas y a depender en gran medida de la ayuda humanitaria.
La prestación de apoyo a los agricultores mediante una combinación de acciones de asistencia de emergencia y a los medios de vida a más largo plazo y ayuda a fomentar la autosuficiencia y a fortalecer su resiliencia.
