The conference was organized by the UNESCO Italian National Commission
The objective of the Conference was the official launch, in Italy, of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD).
The DESD goal is to integrate the concepts inherent to Sustainable Development into all aspects of learning and to encourage changes in behaviour that could allow for a more sustainable society.
During the Conference the FAO-led partnership on “Education for Rural People” was presented as one of the key pillars of Sustainable Development and the DESD.
Many Italian Ministries and institutions participated in this event.
