Reunión del Grupo de Trabajo Interdipartimental sobre Educación (GTIE)

La "Reunión del Grupo de Trabajo interdipartimental sobre Educación (GTIE)" organizada por el Instituto Internacional de Planeamiento de la Educación (IIPE) de la UNESCO y hospedado por la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Agricultura y la Alimentación, departamento de Desarrollo Sostenible, trató de dos argumentos: Educación para la Población Rural y Fomento de la capacidad. La reunión analizó las consecuencias de considerar las necesidades específicas de la población rural en nivel primario, en educación no formal, técnica, vocacional y superior. Durante la reunión se discutió sobre la importancia de fomentar las capacidades para la preparación de planes educativos, programas y reformas. El Grupo evaluó las tendencias actuales del desarrollo de la cooperación, como el Sector Wide Approaches (SWAPS), Estrategias para la Reducción de la Pobreza (ERP) y Educación Para Todos (EPT) y los ODM, incluso la iniciativa de vía expedita. Un grupo especial sobre "Transparencia, Corrupción y Educación para Todos" fue organizado al final del GITIE con la participación de representantes de la sociedad civil y miembros de agencias que trabajan sobre cuestiones de gobierno y transparencia. GITIE es un grupo informal de organismos de ayuda y fundaciones. Fue creado en el 1972 para permitir que las agencias de donantes intercambiaran información y trabajaran juntas sobre educación. Desde el 1982 su principal objetivo es el desarrollo y la promoción de educación básica. Tuvo un papel catalizador durante la Conferencia sobre Jomtien sobre Educación Para Todos (EPT).
