On 28 March 2007 the Education for Rural People Coordination Unit and the University of “Roma Tre” organized a seminar to present an empirical study focusing on the relationship between primary education and food security.
This research outlined that quality primary education for rural people in developing countries is crucial to fight food insecurity.
The results were that, in order to make a substantive progress towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG 1,2 and 3) Governments, International Organizations and civil society should invest more in education, and especially in Education for Rural People.

The study was based on a field research conducted by Pasquale De Muro Associate Professor of “Economics of Human Development” of the University of Roma Tre and by Francesco Burchi, PhD Candidate in Development Economics.
