From 8 to 11 December, the Education for Rural People Coordinator participated in Paris in the Tenth Meeting of the International Working Group on Education for All (WGEFA) in preparation of the Ninth Education for All (EFA) High Level Group (HLG) jointly hosted by UNESCO, the Government of Ethiopia and the African Union, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 23 to 25 February 2010.

The Coordinator interventions focused on the intersectoral policies and interagency cooperation needed to overcome the marginalization of rural people, while presenting the ERP People Partnership yearly achievements and future plans including the need to prepare the handover by 2015 of the initiative to UNESCO.

The EFA HLG is an annual event bringing together high-level representatives from national governments, development agencies, UN agencies, civil society and the private sector.

Its role is to generate political momentum and mobilize financial, technical and political support towards the achievement of the EFA goals and the education-related Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
