The conference "Universities of agriculture and life sciences: entrepreneurs for sustainable rural development" addressed experience of innovative developments taking place in universities worldwide and path-breaking critiques, in both developing and developed economies, with regard to the:
- roles of Universities in sustainable rural development,
- development of new partnerships between the Universities with regional and global organisations which support sustainable rural development,

A member of the Education for Rural People Coordination during the session "Education for Sustainable Rural Development" presented a paper which underlined the need to strengthen the links between Education, Training and objectives related to Food Security.
