Fostering effective biosecurity for FMD and similar TADs - Webinar

10/06/2025 -
Online,

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen preparedness and response capabilities for Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) and similar transboundary animal diseases (TADs) across Europe, the European Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (EuFMD) is organizing a series of webinars focused on enhancing on-farm biosecurity.

By understanding the diverse contexts in which biosecurity measures are implemented, participants will explore how to design adaptive, effective, and context-specific approaches to disease prevention and control. The webinar will explore key aspects of biosecurity for FMD and similar TADs, focusing on disease transmission pathways, risk-based mitigation strategies, and practical field experiences. It will also address stakeholder perceptions, investment challenges, and effective approaches to promote compliance and long-term behavioral change.

The key objectives of this webinar are to:

  • Analyze efficiency of FMD and similar TADs transmission pathways. Identifying and analyzing risk levels and tailoring biosecurity interventions for optimized mitigation efforts.
  • Highlight the cost-benefit of biosecurity investments. Leveraging evidence to drive both behavioral and financial commitment to biosecurity measures.
  • Crafting effective and culturally sensitive messages for local communities. Identifying key resources and tools to amplify awareness and communication efforts.
