The workplan of the European Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (EuFMD) for Phase VI (2023-2027) aims to adequately respond to crises and improve resilience of livestock sector to FAST diseases in Member Nations (MNs).
The programme also focuses on upgrading capacity development opportunities for MNs, and enhanced skills and competencies of Veterinary Services and laboratories.
By the end of this workshop learners should be able to:
- define a Geographic Information System (GIS);
- describe the relevance and application of GIS;
- create and manage projects using QGIS;
- load and display different geospatial data in QGIS (vectors, rasters);
- perform basic operations on geospatial data;
- combine multiple layers and use relevant symbology to create complex projects related to foot-and-mouth and similar transboundary animal (FAST) diseases;
- create format and export maps as sharable pictures; and
- maintain and regularly update maps.
