In an effort to improve the capacity of countries to promptly react to fast-moving transboundary animal diseases, the FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia has developed a series of awareness materials in different languages on priority diseases of the region. The EuFMD Commission publishes a quarterly report on the global foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) situation, based on information sources which include databases such as EMPRES-AH/GLEWS, EMPRES-i, OIE WAHID, WRLFMD. The other sources used are the FAO/EuFMD supported FMD networks (EARLN-FMD Eastern Africa, RESOLAB-FMD West Africa), FAO/EuFMD projects and field officers and the Crisis Management Centre-Animal Health (CMC-AH). The Quarterly Reports are a continuation of the Global Monthly Reports (GMRs), a series of reports published monthly by the Commission since 2011.
