LANDNET 2014 Conference

With financial support of the European Union, the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and FAO, this year’s conference brings together more than 100 experts, aiming at exchanging research and practical experiences on agricultural land tenure and land management within the Europe wide LANDNET group as well as within the context of the Republic of Serbia. The conference is supported by the LANDNET group, the FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia, Budapest, Hungary and the project „Rural Development: Effective Land Management”, funded by the German Federal Government and the European Union, implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The conference will be held in Belgrade from 23-25 of June 2014 in Crowne Plaza Hotel, Adriatic Mediterranean Room.
The tentative program, as outlined in the attached agenda, comprises the current work of the Europe wide LANDNET group, inter alia the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security, Land Consolidation and Integrated Voluntary Land Consolidation, as well as Combating Abandonment of Land. On the afternoon of June 25, a field excursion to the municipality of Boljevac will be conducted for interested participants, reflecting on current issues of land consolidation and abandonment of land, as well as learning to know the current situation on land issues in rural Serbia.
