Functioning institutions are a key ingredient to development, sustainable resource management, and societal adaptation to social, economic, and environmental change. In the forestry context, sector development depends on a functioning institutional framework which includes an appropriate policy and legal environment as well as public forest administrations. The latter play key roles and their performance is crucial for sector development and for building trust in Government.

The workshop was designed to bring together key forestry stakeholders such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water, other Ministries with some jurisdiction over forest areas, Directorate of Forests, public forestry enterprises, forest owners associations, private companies, NGOs, and relevant international and donor agencies.
