11th Technical Review Committee for FAO-Turkey Partnership Programme (FTPP)

Technical Review Committee supports the Steering Committee, which is described as FTPP’s governing body, to monitor the progress of the projects that are implemented under FAO-Turkey Partnership Programme. Meeting on a quarterly basis, the Committee is composed of representatives of the relevant units of the Ministry Food, Agriculture and Livestock of Turkey and FAO.

During the 11th session of the meeting, partners assessed the status of all projects that were being carried out at national, regional and multi-national levels. Technical officers and project assistants from FAO and the Ministry provided a general overview about current status of the projects.

As the first phase of the Programme draws to an end, some projects were identified as a good practice in which agricultural expertise of Turkish authorities were transferred successfully to the countries in Central Asia.

“Capacity development in food safety risk management of food processing enterprises and national authorities in Kyrgyz Republic and Republic of Tajikistan” is one of the projects that fulfilled the aim of knowledge transfer through increasing capacities of main stakeholders across the region. Along with the final missions that are planned to be made to Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in February, four publications on Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Guidelines are expected to be published and disseminated at the end of the project.

During the meeting, projects that will be finalized in the short term were also discussed. “Establishing a national geo-spatial database for soil fertility properties, soil organic carbon content and potential chemical fertilizer consumptions” is one of the soil-related projects of the programme whose final workshop is planned to be linked to the activities of International Year of Soils.

The next Technical Review Committee will meet in April.
