Regional training workshop on integrated pest management

The general objective of the workshop is to present and discuss the current status of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in the countries of the region and to learn the experiences of Israel in development, adaption and implementation of IPM in the farmers’ fields. During the workshop the following activities will be carried out:
- A history and current status of IPM development and implementation in the countries of the region will be reviewed;
- The perspectives on development of IPM techniques and their promotion in to the farmers' fields will be defined;
- Examples of development and application of IPM to protect field crops and fruit and berries from pests and diseases in Israel will be introduced to the workshop participants;
- Implementation of IPM in Israel from development in the research laboratories to the application by farmers will be demonstrated;
- Promotion of IPM through development of extension services, farmer field schools and other modalities will be demonstrated;
- Examples of the development of the national strategies for the adoption and promotion of IPM will be introduced.
