Capacity Building and Methodological Workshop

The project TCP/RER/3203 (D) Mapping of and policy orientation for adaptation to climate change in selected countries of CEE and CA sub-regions, that is implemented following the recommendations of the 26th Regional Conference for Europe (2008) for FAO activities in the region, has as its objectives to
compile an inventory of available studies, adaptation measures and policies related to the reduction of impacts of climate change in the field of agriculture, forestry and water management in 14 countries of the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and Central Asia (CA) subregions, thus Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Romania, Russian Federation, Slovakia, Ukraine, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan,
review known climate change impact projections, national policy scenarios and outlook studies and their regional implications with focus on adaptation and mitigation measures in agriculture and, to the extent possible,
develop recommendations on best practices for adaptation and policy measures at national and regional level (including international cooperation at trans-boundary and sub-regional level) as well as (iv) proposals for technical assistance to the member countries for future research and adaptation responses both at national as well as at regional level.

National specialists from the project countries have been invited to prepare technical papers and presentations for the workshop sessions. These papers and presentations will be made available on this website. Technical seminar for selected country groups will be implemented in the second part of the project to review and make recommendations on country groups-specific issues and adaptation and mitigation approaches.
