The instrument of Informal Consultations to interact with member countries at Regional level has been successfully used in the Region since 2010, taking the limited presence of FAO at the country level in this region into consideration.

The Medium Term Plan (2014 -17) provides the programmatic basis for preparing the two year Programme of Work and Budget (PWB) 2016-17. The main purpose of the May 2015 Informal Consultation in Budapest is to:

• Update Members on FAO’s work in the region and seek views for the 30^th Session of the Regional Conference for Europe.
• Provide a platform for exchange of views among the countries in the region as well as non-governmental actors including CSOs and academia.
