Regional IPCC workshop in the Central and Estern Europe and Central Asia region

The purpose of this workshop is to develop capacity in a range of areas related to the implementation of IPPC. This will include learning how to analyse draft ISPMs and to formulate productive comments using the examples of draft ISPMs for member consultation in 2015, to build phytosanitary capacity and raise awareness on all activities related to the IPPC and to exchange experiences at the regional level.
One of the main purposes of International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs) is to harmonize the approaches and procedures of countries at export and import of plants and plant products. The Workshop will focus on the International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs) sent by IPPC for country consultation. It is designed to promote the implementation of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) and ISPMs in English and Russian languages. Considering the above-mentioned the Regional Workshop for 18 countries (Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Montenegro, Russian Federation, Serbia, TFYR of Macedonia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan) to review draft International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures will be organized for the representatives of National Plant Protection Organizations of the above mentioned countries. One of the topic of the workshop will be emerging pests in the region. The countries will present current situations in their respective countries and in the region and will discuss opportunities to strengthen cooperation among themselves and collaboration with FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia and IPPC Secretariat.
The workshop will be organized by FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia (REU) in close collaboration with IPPC secretariat.
