Call for collecting good practices in improving food safety management

Submission period: 3 – 24 June 2022


The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia in cooperation with Helsinki University are calling for good practices in food safety management in Europe and Central Asia region. The call comprises three separate topics:

A) Measuring effectiveness of food control

B) Solutions to support small-scale producers to comply with food safety requirements

C) Use of digital solutions to improve food safety management

You may submit good practices to one or all three topics.

This call is the first phase of collecting good practices in the field of food safety management with focus on the three specific topics. The call aims at identifying proven solutions, outstanding initiatives and successful projects and programmes across the region.

The submissions of good practices should have proven successful in addressing at least one of the following challenges:

Topic A. Measuring effectiveness of food control:

-successful approaches to measure effectiveness of food control

-data driven continuous development of food control

Topic B. Solutions to support small-scale producers to comply with food safety requirements:

- empowering small-scale producers in complying with food safety regulations

- improving food control authorities’ tools and possibilities to support small-scale producers to comply with food safety regulations.

Topic C. Use of digital solutions to improve food safety management:

- digital solutions improving food safety data analysis and use of data

- digital solutions improving food safety communication between parties

- digital solutions improving consumer awareness and trust

- digital solutions increasing compliance with food safety requirements by the food businesses

This call will empower organizations to showcase innovative solutions and good practices to improve specific aspects of food safety management in Europe and Central Asia. A selection of good practices submitted will be highlighted and presented at a webinar during fall 2022.

Presentation of innovative and outstanding good practices will take place at an on-line seminar in fall 2022. Show your promising solution and contribute to a better food safety management in the region!
