Terminal Evaluation of the project Building Global Capacity to Increase Transparency in the Forest Sector” (CBIT-Forest)

The objective of CBIT-Forest was to strengthen institutional and technical capacities of developing countries on forest-related data collection, analysis, and dissemination processes to meet the enhanced transparency requirements of the Paris Agreement. The terminal evaluation provides evidence on project performance and promotes learning and knowledge sharing to strengthen the institutional and technical capacities of countries to meet the ETF requirements of the Paris Agreement.

Evaluation of the project "AAD in support of the implementation of the GCF-GGWI, the UNCCD and Drought action plans in Fiji and Haiti and South–South cooperation in the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States"

The “Action Against Desertification in support of the implementation of the Great Green Wall for the Sahara and the Sahel Initiative, the UNCCD action plans in Fiji and Haiti, and South–South Cooperation in the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States” project (AAD) worked with eight countries in Africa, the Caribbean and Asia to tackle the detrimental social, economic and environmental impacts of land degradation and desertification (2014 to 2020).

Evaluation of the Zimbabwe Livelihoods and Food Security Programme

This report presents the results of the evaluation of the Zimbabwe Livelihoods and Food Security Programme (LFSP) (GCP/ZIM/025/UK), implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) between 2013 and 2021. The programme sought to contribute to poverty reduction by actively addressing the specific constraints that smallholder farmers, particularly women, faced in raising the productivity of their farms and participating in markets.

This report is a synthesis of FAO's Office of Evaluation evaluations completed from 2019 to 2021 on FAO’s work in the Africa region. It documents FAO’s contribution to results, identifies gaps and emerging issues and lessons learned. The synthesis is organized around the themes of sustainable production and value chain development, food security and nutrition, climate change and natural resources, resilience to threats and crises, and gender equality and empowerment of women.

Evaluation of the project "Institutionalisation of food safety in Bangladesh for safer food"

The “Institutionalisation of food safety in Bangladesh for safer food” project, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented between 2013 and December 2019, had as main objective to support the operationalisation of the newly established Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA). Support provided helped BFSA to define its role, objectives and activities, and to strengthen its capacities.

Evaluation of the “Meeting the Undernutrition Challenge (MUCH): Strengthening the enabling environment for food security and nutrition” programme

The Meeting the Undernutrition Challenge (MUCH) programme, funded jointly by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the European Union, had the overall objective to improve the enabling environment to eradicate food insecurity and malnutrition in Bangladesh. The programme enhanced a national policy shift toward addressing nutrition by improving policy processes with more participation of civil society and subnational stakeholders, enriching policy and programming to address needs throughout the country.

Terminal evaluation of the project "Mainstreaming ecosystem-based approaches to climate-resilient rural livelihoods in vulnerable rural areas through the farmer field school methodology"

This terminal evaluation covers the project "Mainstreaming ecosystem-based approaches to climate-resilient rural livelihoods in vulnerable rural areas through the farmer field school (FFS) methodology", funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF). The evaluation found that the project has contributed to capacity building of institutional actors and farmers organizations on climate change adaptation, resilience and gender equity.

Real-time evaluation of FAO's response to the desert locust upsurge 2020–2021 – Phase III

Phase III drew lessons for future operations and FAO’s work on desert locust in the Region. It found several areas for potential improvement in the future, in order to better prepare for, and respond to, future desert locust upsurges in the Horn of Africa and Yemen.

Evaluation of the “Project for restoration of livelihoods in the merged areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa”

The evaluation of the project assessed the project’s design, its achievements vis-à-vis its objectives, its impact, and its success areas, gaps, and lessons learned through a mixed-methods approach combining in-depth analysis of project documents with direct observations in the field, key informant interviews, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions.
