During the World Food Week and in the occasion of the 80th anniversary of FAO, the Global-Hub on Indigenous Peoples’ Food Systems will host its third annual in-person meeting. The expert meeting will be taking place in the two Indigenous Nomadic tents: an Indigenous Peoples’ territory in the heart of Rome. This year, the meeting will be inspired by 5 Indigenous Peoples' values that are essential to bring HOPE to our common future: Peace, Reciprocity, Sharing, Caring and Solidarity.

The whole meeting will be dedicated to these values, and especially to Peace.

The Global-Hub, whose secretariat is hosted by the Indigenous Peoples Unit, is a strategic thinktank that pioneers innovative ways to co-create knowledge. It gathers Indigenous and non-Indigenous experts, giving the same level of respect to academic and Indigenous Peoples’ science. The latter is often disregarded by the scientific community and by policy makers despite it enshrines unique game-changing solutions embedded in oral transmission that can support finding planetary solutions.

Founded in 2018 and endorsed by COAG in 2020, the Global-Hub now brings together 38 organizations and 3 international research networks. Amongst different achievements, the Global-Hub coordinated the White/Wiphala paper on Indigenous Peoples’ food systems in 2021. Together with FAO Members, it requested CFS to host policy discussion on Indigenous Peoples’ food and knowledge systems.

During the annual meeting of the Global-Hub, more than 50 experts will be joined by Indigenous Youth. The technical discussions will finalize 4 of the 9 ongoing drafting committees, and will be complemented by talks, cultural manifestations and culinary events with Indigenous Chefs. Key discussions on investment, water governance, and co-creation of knowledge will be co-organized together with the Hand-in-Hand Investment Forum; the Rome Water Dialogue; and the Science and Innovation Forum.
