Early Agroclimatic Warning System Prototype (EAWS-Prototype), for potato crops (Solanum Toberosum) in the municipality of Yacuanquer (Nariño, Colombia)

The uncertainty caused by the alteration of weather patterns has adverse consequences for crop productivity, which means that agricultural producers have to make decisions regarding crop management without affecting economic, social and environmental aspects, among others. One strategy to support the choice of a “good decision” is the implementation of Decision Support Systems (DSS), which are tools that are based on a selection process that considers a set of criteria to achieve the proposed objectives. In this sense, the MAPA expert was proposed as a tool to facilitate agroclimatic risk management at three different spatial scales: departmental, municipal and local, implemented in 54 agricultural systems and in the same number of municipalities.
