Malica: Markets and Agriculture Linkages for Sustainable Food Systems in Asia

MALICA’s overall objective is to foster the sustainability of food systems in South-East Asia.

MALICA collaborative platform aims to strengthen the research and decision capacity on food market analysis and urban/rural linkages of researchers, students, public officials, and private groups in Vietnam and in Laos.

MALICA research activities consist in analyzing, assessing and supporting innovations and transformations in agricultural, distribution and consumption models. Particular attention is paid to the opportunities, challenges and changes introduced by urban and regional markets and value chains dynamics. Our research targets farmer livelihoods, poverty alleviation, food quality and safety and natural resource management.

In terms of methods, MALICA is characterized by its strong empirical focus grounded into field work. It works through joint research and development projects, trainings, communication activities, workshops and seminars.
