C 2025/INF/9 - Update on the Biennial Theme 2024-25: Water resources management for the four betters: better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life, to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
The Programme Committee of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) at its 140th Session recommended the progress report on the Biennial Theme 2024–25 – Water resources management for the four betters: better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life, to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development be reported to the 177th Session of the Council and that it be reviewed and submitted to the 44th Session of the Conference. In response to the above recommendation, this document presents progress on the implementation of the Biennial Theme 2024–25, covering the following areas: discussing water in relevant FAO Governing Bodies and Technical Committees; enhancing outreach and advocacy activities on water, including in global processes; strengthening partnerships; enhancing resource mobilization efforts; and mainstreaming water in FAO’s normative work through programmatic water initiatives.
