A synthesis of existing knowledge on the dairy value chain in the Fatick Department, Senegal
Dairy production constitutes a key economic activity in Senegal. It was estimated at 264.6 million L in 2019, compared to 249.4 million L in 2018, and contributes significantly to household food security as well as to the diversification of income sources (ANSD, 2022). More broadly, Livestock farming occupies a central place in the national economy, accounting for 27.4% of the GDP of the primary sector and involving approximately 60% of agricultural households (ANSD, 2016).
