Improving food and nutrition security of vulnerable households in Zimbabwe

During the 2012/2013 agricultural season, The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) implemented a market-based agriculture input assistance programme in Zimbabwe. FAO together with key partners aimed at reducing poverty and food insecurity in Zimbabwe, by helping to increase the productivity and income of small-scale farmers as well as to help commercialise the smallholder farmer sector.  Through the programme, farmers were able to purchasing much needed inputs through vouchers. Each of the targeted farmers received a voucher worth USD 160 to which they also made a contribution (20 percent). The programme was funded by European Union, United Kingdom's Department for International Development (DfID) and the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID)
