Gutshof Trieb

From 1867 to 1962, 95 Ha Gutshof Trieb was primarily a dairy farm, while from 1962 to 1970 it specialised in poultry and laying hens. Since 1970 it has been a solely arable, grain-producing farm. Until 2011 this agricultural production remained under family management, but today all agricultural land (60 Ha) is rented to tenant farmers in the region along with a set of fish ponds, occupying c. 20 Ha of land. Throughout these changes, Gutshof Trieb has remained in the hands of a single family, demonstrating the dynamism that exists between the generations as they adapt to external structural conditions. The 20 Ha of the estate in forestry is still managed directly by the family today, who employ one permanent member of staff to help with this. The firewood, pulpwood and standing timber products of the forest are used both by the family and sold. Agricultural income comes from the rent of land. The grain products of this land are sold to the benefit of local tenant farmers, and recently corn has been grown for a biogas plant.
