Freshwater Fish Farming Possibilities in the Hilly-Mountain Area of Serbia

The hilly-mountain area of Serbia is considered to be of a great ecological and socioeconomically value. The traditional agriculture practice, which is still in use in Serbia, seems to be outdated. This is why it is almost impossible to stop the migration process, so the population started leaving the farms and moving to cities in search of work. This process requires village  revitalization and good working conditions for a small number of people in conditions of preserved natural resources of the Republic of Serbia. Due to the aforementioned process, the mountainous area remained almost deserted or poorly habited. Its numerous unpolluted streams and rivers, which are part of the unpolluted water resources, are inadequately used or not used at all. Apart from the production of the cleanest energy (hydropower) for the environment, production of organic food would be a good idea and an opportunity for people to return to this region. When it comes to aquatic ecosystems, the production of organic matter in water by trout fish species farming is one way of using watercourse peaks with the best quality water in the area.
