Local and Solidarity-Based Partnerships

Between Producers and Consumers in West Asia and North Africa

This report presents the results of the 2025 mapping of Local and Solidarity-Based Partnerships for Agroecology (LSPA) carried out by URGENCI and its local partners in seven countries of the West Asia and North Africa (WANA) region: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, and Tunisia. An initial lighter mapping was undertaken in 2016 across the Mediterranean, covering the same countries (except Jordan) as well as several European Mediterranean countries and Turkey. The 2025 study takes a closer look at the evolution and current state of LSPA in the WANA region, with the dual objective of sharing best practices and supporting local actors in advocating for more sustainable and ethical food systems. The results are presented in three parts, from general to specific: a) regional overview of LSPA, b) country-level overviews, and c) in-depth case studies for each country.
