The expansion idea for the business came from the two managers of the company Ocean Orchids, after reaching the area of 1.6 ha cultivated in 2005. The need to obtain a bigger production due to the quantity of bloomed orchids requested for weekly, led to taking the decision of building a new greenhouse. It was estimated that the effectiveness of the heating system would be greatly improved by the area added, lowering thus the costs for the additional energy needed. Extending the greenhouse and streamlining the system lowered the basic cost of the flower production making the business reliable on the long term. The bigger quantity of plants produced weekly influenced directly the volume of the sales, whereas the market share of the company grew considerably.
