Building bridges in agroecological knowledge
Exploratory review of lessons learned from Latin American practice of agroecology relevant to strengthening food systems
“Building Bridges in agroecological knowledge” is an exploratory review on lessons learned from the Latin American practice of agroecology relevant to strengthening food systems. It is based on an extensive literature review and consultations with nine Indigenous Peoples from four countries.
The report summarizes some of the relevant contributions to agroecology from Latin America and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean countries, as well as the challenges and knowledge gaps, from a food systems perspective. The final section proposes ten implications of the findings and four urgent actions to strengthen the amplification of agroecology in Latin America and beyond.
“Building Bridges in agroecological knowledge” aims to provide insights and food for thought to a wide range of actors, including researchers, policymakers, non-governmental organizations, funders, practitioners, advocates, and anyone committed to healthy and resilient food systems.
The study was commissioned by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) through the “Transforming Food Systems in Latin America and the Caribbean” initiative.
