“The Battle for African Agriculture”
The Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA) has launched a new podcast titled The Battle for African Agriculture, hosted by its General Coordinator, Dr. Million Belay. The series explores the colonial legacies shaping African food systems, challenges corporate-driven models of industrial agriculture, and amplifies agroecological solutions that center justice, biodiversity, and food sovereignty. Each episode features discussions with scientists, civil society leaders, and activists working across food, power, and ecology. Dr. Million emphasized the urgency of reclaiming African food systems, stating, “We are in the middle of a war over narratives: Who defines what good agriculture is? Who gets to decide the future of our food?” The podcast is now streaming on all major platforms and YouTube.
