Pinduoduo, expanding its work and impact by partnering technology teams with research institutes, works to bridge the gap between academic research and the real-world application of agricultural technology. The innovative and inclusive solutions offered allow smallholder farmers to increase their incomes and invest in making their farms even more productive and environmentally sustainable. Furthermore, these agricultural entrepreneurs create jobs in their rural communities, creating income streams for many villagers and contributing to the vitalization of the rural economy, also stemming the tide of rural-urban migration, especially important for youth and marginalized communities.

Kirisia Community Forest Association (CFA) Kenya

The project ‘Capacity, Policy and Financial Incentives in Kirisia Forest  and integrated Rangelands management’ represents a great example of a complex and complete multi-layered project which delivers great achievements in forest restoration and conservation in an endangered territory. The project also showcases policy and capacity development involving vulnerable indigenous groups, acknowledging and learning from the existing knowledge of the indigenous communities while raising the level of their security, food and water security and nutrition as main socio-economic outcomes.

Agriculture Research Corporation of Brazil  (Embrapa)

The Agriculture Research Corporation of Brazil (Embrapa) has a widely recognized and well proven track record in in research and development, providing innovation, training and agritech solutions. Its network and programmes have helped expand and scale-up advanced technologies and systems. Its work of collaboration spans many geographical areas and fields of knowledge, with thematic, ecoregional and product- based research centres leading the way in disseminating and exchanging sustainable agrifood practices and information. Programmes and projects carried out by Embrapa and partners are focused on fighting hunger and malnutrition, reducing poverty, and promoting sustainable agriculture.

Foundations for Farming (FfF)

Foundations for Farming (FfF) of Zimbabwe has engaged with local communities and relevant stakeholders to improve people’s lives by responding to their needs and rights. FfF has supported beneficiaries in joint capacity-building activities with FAO, enhancing efforts to achieve the SDGs. The initiatives led by FfF demonstrated evidence of impact, helping nine million Zimbabweans achieve household food security. FfF has successfully reflected the principles of the Four Betters by working for better lives through the enhancement of small-scale farm profitability and improving the livelihoods of rural households, fostering inclusive growth and addressing gender inequalities.

Wageningen University and Research (WUR)

The partnership between FAO and the Wageningen University and Research (WUR) puts innovative collaborations and enhanced coordination at its centre. It sets a new joint vision with the two organizations bridging the science-policy interface, linking research staff and policy-makers, and working through agile actions to efficiently tackle challenges in a rapidly changing world. Collaboration with academic institutions is a natural choice for FAO as a knowledge-based organization promoting science-based policies and solutions. WUR as a world leader in teaching and research in agriculture has been a long-standing partner of FAO.
