The CCASIA Region - Regional Coordinator China

The Coordinating Committee for Asia was established at the 11th Meeting of the Codex Alimentarius Commission held in Rome, Italy, in July 1976. Its first meeting was held in New Delhi (India) in January 1977.

The regional coordinator operates from within the China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment.

China’s main priorities as coordinator include enhancing participation in Codex meetings, supporting the prioritization of Codex work in the region, improving harmonization of food safety standards and accelerating the revitalization of the coordinating committee by sharing information and providing regular updates on food safety issues within the region.

China also wishes to promote collaboration with observer organizations and improve efficient and effective communication between regional members FAO, WHO, and the Codex Secretariat.

Japan celebrates World Food Safety Day and delivers key COVID-19 information for the public

Japan celebrates the World Food Safety Day. The Japanese government (Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, and Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries) posts a message of “Food safety, everyone's business” on social media to bring the attention of the public. Promoting the 2nd World Food Safety Day By Tian Ding, Mingming Guo, Yiran Jiang An exciting Food Safety publicity and educational programme for the second World Food Safety Day was held by Department of Food Science and Nutrition of Zhejiang University on 29-31 May  2020. Food additives committee supporting innovation whilst maintaining core values

Cambodia workshop / Enhancing participation in Codex

Gyanendra Gongal appointed WHO Regional Adviser for food safety in South-East Asia

Codex discussing the future of food safety at Beijing CIFSQ Conference

The China International Food Safety & Quality (CIFSQ) Conference is currently underway in Beijing, China 30 to 31 October 2019. Bhutan strengthening participation in Codex

Dr Yayoi Tsujiyama: a source of learning for all those who deal with food safety, fair practices in food trade and negotiation
