أنشأت هيئة الدستور الغذائي في دورتها الثانية عام 1964 لجنة التنسيق لهيئة الدستور الغذائي في أوروبا لتحل محل "المجلس الأوروبي للدستور الغذائي" ولتحل محل "المجموعة الاستشارية لأوروبا" التي تم تشكيلها في دورتها الأولى عام 1963.
وتم عقد الاجتماع الأول للجنة التنسيق لهيئة الدستور الغذائي في أوروبا في تموز/ يوليو 1965 في برن بسويسرا وبحضور 16 دولة من المنطقة.
تتخذ ألمانيا، وهي المنسق الحالي، من الوزارة الاتحادية للأغذية والزراعة (BMEL) مقرا لها. .
إن الأولويات الرئيسية لألمانيا كمنسق هي كالتالي:
- تقليل الحواجز التي تحول دون المشاركة النشطة لأعضاء المنطقة في عمل هيئة الدستور الغذائي،
- زيادة الوعي بدور هيئة الدستور الغذائي وسلامة الأغذية بشكل عام في التحول نحو نظم غذائية مستدامة، و
- تعزيز استخدام معايير هيئة الدستور الغذائي في المجالات ذات الأولوية مثل مقاومة مضادات الميكروبات.
وعند التطرق لهذه الأولويات، سيستخدم المنسق أوجه التآزر من الأنشطة الدولية والإقليمية لأمانة هيئة الدستور الغذائي ومنظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة ومنظمة الصحة العالمية فضلا عن المراقبين لهيئة الدستور الغذائي.

A delegation led by the Codex Alimentarius Regional Coordinator for Europe, Nailya Karsybekova, visited the Republic of Armenia from 29 to 30 April and the Republic of Moldova on May 2 and 3, to enhance participation of these countries in Codex. During the mission, meetings were held at the Ministries of Agriculture, Ministries of Health, the Inspection Bodies for Food Safety, and at the FAO and WHO Country Offices.

The Codex European region comprises 52 countries with widely diverse economic, historic and climatic backgrounds as well as differing levels of experience in engaging with Codex. Many countries in the region joined Codex in the early 1960s at the birth of the Codex Alimentarius and some, especially from the East European region only became members since 2000.
