The CCEURO Region - Regional Coordinator Germany
In 1964, at its second session, the Codex Alimentarius Commission established the Coordinating Committee for Europe to succeed the 'European Council of the Codex Alimentarius' and to replace the 'Advisory Group for Europe' set up at its first session in 1963.
The first meeting of the Coordinating Committee for Europe took place in July 1965 in Berne, Switzerland and was attended by 16 countries from the region.
The current coordinator, Germany, is based in the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL).
Germany’s main priorities as coordinator are to:
- reduce barriers to active participation of Members of the region in Codex work;
- increase the awareness of the role of Codex and food safety in general in the transition towards sustainable food systems; and
- promote the use of Codex standards in priority areas such as antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
In addressing these priorities, the coordinator will use synergies from international and regional level activities of the Codex Secretariat, FAO and WHO as well as Codex Observers.

International expert panel to discuss healthy and safe food in Kazakhstan
The Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) has organized an Expert Meeting for Healthy and Safe Food and a video to celebrate World Food Safety Day on 7 June.
The event is organized in cooperation with the Kazakh Agro Technical University, named after S.Seifullin, in Astana, Kazakhstan. Experts from seven countries will participate in the session: Kazakakhstan, Sultanate of Oman, Pakistan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Türkiye, Tajikistan.

School children in Portugal to celebrate World Food Safety Day
Alcobaça City Council in Portugal will mark World Food Safety Day by holding information sessions and a game about the five keys to safer food in two primary schools, with children from 6 to 10 years old. Denmark’s Food Nation to celebrate World Food Safety Day in online event
Denmark’s Agriculture and Food Council, together with Food Nation, the government’s “gateway to information about the Danish agriculture and the food sector” will celebrate World Food Safety Day this year to discuss how the Danish food sector can “continuously assess, test and innovate their products”.
The online event is aimed at “key people within food safety, innovation and marketing”.

World Food Safety Day awareness raising planned at Agro-industrial Technical Institute in France
The agro-industrial technical institute, ADRIA, in France is planning for its 20th annual agrifood industry (IAA) quality managers meeting, le Rendez-vous des managers de la qualité en IAA, to fall on World Food Safety Day this year.
